Ujjayanta Palace, a modern building of
the royal house of Tripura is notable. Kunjaban Palace, and Neermahal are
worth visiting. At Unakoti, Debtamura and Pilak, the rock-cuts and stone
carvings are huge and have been carved on open vertical walls. Unakoti is Shiva pilgrimage
site dating back to the 8th or 9th century The rocks on the banks
of the river have image forms of Shiva, Vishnu, Kartik, Mahisasur, Mardini, Durga and
other deities. Mata Tripureshwari Temple at Udaipur located about 58 km from
Agartala. Bhuveneshwari Temple on the right banks of the Gomti River, was built
during 1666-75 AD, finds reference in Ravindra Nath Tagore's poetry and drama namely
Bisharjan and Rajarshi. Other temples to visit in Agartala are the Buddha Temple, Laxminarayan
Temple, Uma Maheshwari Temple, and the Durga Temple, The Rudrasagar
Lake about 55 km from Agartala near Melagarh, and Lake Kamalasagar 27 km from
Agartala, excavated by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya in the 15th century may be
