South of Nagaland, Manipur (which means jewelled land) borders with Myanmar. The State is inhabited by over two dozen different tribes, many of them Christians.

Manipur is a mosaic of traditions and cultural patterns, best represented by its dance forms. Manipuris were earlier recognised as skillful warriors and still practice the art of wrestling, sword fighting and martial arts. Polo is believed to have originated here.
